Bodycount[]
Notes:
- Research was based on a previous one done by admin on a Russian Terminator-themed forum.
- Although first flashback is technically a dream sequence, it never contradicts Kyle's statements and the dream is very likely verbatim repeating his own experiences and is a PTSD flashback.
- Large robot tech is accounted separately, while cyborgs are inserted in the main bodycount on accounts of them having living human tissue (some of which might even be preserved in endoskeleton form as they likely need living neurons in the system).
- Skeletal human remains seen in the scenes of future war were accounted on shot-for-shot basis, something indigenous to this research and its direct predecessor.
Deaths[]
Count | Name | Cause of Death | Killer | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|
1-4. | Skeletal remains (at least 4 people) | Unknown, casualties of future war between humanity and the machines. |
Accounted mainly by skulls, although in this particular shot other bones are evident. The shot is also seen repeated in the second flashback and believed to be part of the same event, so it was not accounted second time. | |
5-6. | Skeletal remains (at least 2 people) | Unknown, casualties of future war between humanity and the machines. |
Two skulls are seen in a blink-and-miss moment before place goes in the minor explosion caused by a blast from an Aerial Hunter-Killer. The shot seems to be filmed with miniatures. | |
7-17. | Skeletal remains (at least 11 people) | Unknown, casualties of future war between humanity and the machines. |
Eleven skulls are seen crushed by the wheels of HK (Hunter-Killer) Tank. The shot was filmed with miniatures and the tiny skulls were sculpted out of plaster. The shot is also seen repeated in the first flashback and believed to be part of the same event, so it was not accounted second time. | |
18-20. | Skeletal remains (at least 3 people) | Unknown, casualties of future war between humanity and the machines. |
Three skulls could be seen before the minor explosion from the aerial HK blast. | |
21-31. | Skeletal remains (at least 11 people) | Unknown, casualties of future war between humanity and the machines. |
Eleven skulls could be witnessed and accounted under different levels of lighting. Plaster miniatures of different size and detail were used to film the shot in order to widen the depth and trick the audience into believing the space is much larger then it actually is. | |
32. | Punk (Brian Thompson) | Heart ripped from the body with bare hands. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 1. | First kill in the movie and the whole Terminator franchise. Character is called Rick in the main novelization. |
33-34. | At least two taxidermied animals | Presumably hunted off-screen. |
At least two out-of-focus animals are evident in the background of Alamo store. One seems to be some kind of a Marten, while another is second to indiscernible. | |
35. | Taxidemized goose | Presumably hunted off-screen. |
The most evident (and prominent) taxidermied animal in the Alamo store. | |
36. | Pawn Shop Clerk (Dick Miller) | Shot point blank with a Franchi SPAS-12. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 2. | |
37. | Sarah Louise Connor (Marianne Muellerleile) | Shot 6 times point blank with Colt AMT 1911. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 3. | Likely died from the first shot alone. |
38-41. | Skeletal remains (at least 4 people) | Unknown, casualties of future war between humanity and the machines. |
Seen being run over by an HK-Tank at the beginning of the first flashback. | |
42. | Skeletal remains. | Unknown, casualty of future war between humanity and the machines. |
A skull is seen in the lower right corner of the shot. Succeeding shot is that of 7-17. | |
43-44. | Skeletal remains (at least 2 people) | Unknown, casualties of future war between humanity and the machines. |
Seen as Kyle Reese and unnamed female resistance fighter message each other with gestures and start crawling. | |
45-47. | Skeletal remains (at least 3 people) | Unknown, casualties of future war between humanity and the machines. |
Seen as Kyle and unnamed female resistance fighter crawl through ruins. | |
48-51. | Skeletal remains (at least 4 people) | Unknown, casualties of future war between humanity and the machines. |
Briefly seen in a shot between explosions and blasts are four skulls, one of them being a very small part of such. | |
52. | Female Resistance Fighter | Shot with a plasma cannon, exploded. |
Hunter-Killer (HK) Tank | |
53. | Resistance Driver/Gunner | Breaks neck and/or blunt force trauma during the car accident caused by plasma cannon blast. |
Aerial Hunter-Killer | Hits his head on debris at least three times before car stops moving, although the way corpse remains in the cockpit suggests broken neck. Even if damage was not lethal, car starts to burn down shortly after and it is strongly hinted that only Kyle survived. |
54. | Sarah Ann Connor (Paula Cross) | Shot 6 times point blank with "large caliber weapon". |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 4. | Seen in photographs. |
55. | Matt Buchanan (Rick Rossovich) | Beaten to death. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 5. | |

The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 6. | |
57. | Tech-Noir Patron | Shot with IMI Uzi. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 7. | As extra repeates same exact movements twice in two shots in succession (which is a goof), scene was probably filmed by two cameras: technique employed on several action scenes in the movie. |
58. | Tech-Noir Patron (Marian Green) | Shot with IMI Uzi. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 8. | |
59. | Tech-Noir Patron | Shot with IMI Uzi. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 9. | Might be hard to notice. |
60. | Desk Sergeant Wright (Bruce M. Kerner) | Crushed with a car. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 10. Police Station - 1. |
In some shots a well sculpted, but adamant dummy was used for obvious safety reasons. |
61. | Police Officer Exiting Narcotics | Shot repeatedly with Armalite AR-18. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 11. Police Station - 2. |
|
62. | Police Officer Exiting Narcotics | Shot repeatedly with Armalite AR-18. |

|
63. | Police Officer | Shot with Franchi SPAS-12. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 13. Police Station - 4. |
Policeman is seen falling in a blink-and-miss moment. |
64. | Policeman | Shot with Franchi SPAS-12. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 14. Police Station - 5. |
|
65. | Captain Chapnick | Shot repeatedly with Armalite AR-18. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 15. Police Station - 6. |
|
66. | Warden Bryan | Shot repeatedly with Armalite AR-18. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 16. Police Station - 7. |
Footage of The Terminator shooting is recycled from kill 50 (which causes a brief continuity error). |
67. | Police Officer | Shot through a wall with Armalite AR-18. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 17. Police Station - 8. |
|
68. | Police Officer | Shot in the back with Franchi SPAS-12. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 18. Police Station - 9. |
|
69. | Police Officer | Shot with Armalite AR-18. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 19. Police Station - 10. |
|
70. | Police Officer | Shot with Franchi SPAS-12. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 20. Police Station - 11. |
|
71-72. | Two Police Officers | Shot off-screen. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 21-22. Police Station - 12-13. |
Exact demise unseen in the movie. One closer to the camera seems to be portrayed by the same extra as Captain Chapnick. |
73. | Police Officer | Shot with Armalite AR-18. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 23. Police Station - 14. |
|
74. | Lieutenant Ed Traxler (Paul Winfield) | Shot at least three times with Armalite AR-18. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 24. Police Station - 15. |
Deleted scene shows him dying of blood loss shortly after handling keys from his car to Kyle and Sarah. |
75. | Detective Hal Vukovich (Lance Henriksen) | Shot numerous times with Armalite AR-18 and Franchi SPAS-12. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 25. Police Station - 16. |
Various early drafts of sequel (as well as threequel) include Vukovich as a survivor of the attack, severely crippled due to injuries sustained. However since the ideas were scrapped, they are not considered canon. |
76. | Police Officer | Shot off-screen. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 26. Police Station - 17. |
Corpse could be witnessed twice as Kyle and Sarah and then T-800 himself walk through a corridor. It does not match any of the previously seen victims in place or looks. Finishing the massacre with this officer perfectly matches the number of victims given in Terminator 2: Judgment Day: seventeen. It is likely that scene was given a close re-watch in the process of writing the sequel to match the events seamlessly. |
77. | Skeletal remains. | Unknown, casualty of future war between humanity and the machines. |
Seen in the bunkers. Either dirty or heavily damaged/partial. | |
78. | Skeletal remains. | Unknown, casualty of future war between humanity and the machines. |
Seen in the bunker among with some other bones. | |
79. | Resistance Soldier | Shot with a plasma cannon. |
Future Terminator T-800 (Franco Columbu) - 1. | |
80. | Resistance Gunner | Shot with a plasma cannon. |
Future Terminator T-800 (Franco Columbu) - 2. | Never shown to be hit directly with a ray, but falls dead anyway, seemingly hit between shots. |
81. | Resistance Soldier | Shot with a plasma cannon. |
Future Terminator T-800 (Franco Columbu) - 3. | Seems to be more caught in the explosion resulting from the blast then actually being blasted. |
82. | Resistance Member | Shot with a plasma cannon. |
Future Terminator T-800 (Franco Columbu) - 4. | |
83. | Resistance Member | Shot with a plasma cannon. |
Future Terminator T-800 (Franco Columbu) - 5. | Shown again from another angle, could be confused for another kill. |
84. | Resistance Member | Shot with a plasma cannon. |
Future Terminator T-800 (Franco Columbu) - 6. | |
85. | Resistance Member | Shot with a plasma cannon. |
Future Terminator T-800 (Franco Columbu) - 7. | May be hard to notice. |
86. | Resistance Soldier | Shot with a plasma cannon. |
Future Terminator T-800 (Franco Columbu) - 8. | Same extra in the same moment as in kill 76, but filmed simultaneously from another angle and edited to look like another kill. |
87-88. | Resistance Soldiers | Shot with a plasma cannon. |
Future Terminator T-800 (Franco Columbu) - 9-10. | While they are not shown to be hit directly both are falling down dead and one is shown to be close to a blast enough for it to cause serious enough damage. |
89-90. | Dogs. | Shot with a plasma cannon. |
Future Terminator T-800 (Franco Columbu) - 11-12. | Although mostly off-screen, dogs are heard screaming as they die. |
91. | Resistance Gunner | Shot with a plasma cannon. |
Future Terminator T-800 (Franco Columbu) - 13. | As in case of 69 and 74, this kill is a repeated extra from 68 as seen from another angle and edited to look like another kill. |
92. | Sarah's Mother | Shot through the door. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 27. | Mostly off-screen, although aftermath is shown. |
93. | Taxidermied Bird | Unknown, presumed to be hunted down years ago. |
Seen in the background of Sarah mother's cabin. | |
94. | Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) | Combination of gunshot wound inflicted by Armalite AR-18, car flip, beating and whiplash from explosion of a self-made pipe bomb. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) - 28. Kyle Reese - 1. |
Shared kill as it is unclear which damage lead to death foremost. |
95. | The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) | Most of the biological parts destroyed in motorcycle accident and tanker explosion caused by self-made pipe bombs, later exploded from beneath via another pipe bomb and finally fatally crushed with a hydraulic press. |
Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) - 1. Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) - 1. |
Shared kill, as Reese's bomb led to critical damage which allowed Sarah to kill the terminator with more fair chances. Final moments of both T-800 and Kyle are pick-up shots filmed after principal photography wrapped. |
Missing[]
Count | Name | Notes |
---|---|---|
1. | Kevin Collins |
Missing posters for the boy are seen all over the police station. |
Robots[]
Count | Name | Cause of Death | Killer | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|
01. | Hunter-Killer (HK) Tank | Exploded with a hand grenade. |
Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) | |
02-03. | Hunter-Killer (HK) Tanks Wrecks | Destroyed in unknown explosions. |
One is seen in the foreground with far more damage then another one in the background. |
Debatable[]
Count | Name | Debated Death? | Killer? | |
---|---|---|---|---|
1. | Resistance soldier | Some kill counts, including Movie Body Counts and Carnage Counts suggest that resistance soldier was killed by an Aerial HK blast in the prologue. Although what is shown was quite brief and it is hard to tell, blast was quite far from the soldier and we cut to another shot too quickly to suggest that he is, indeed, a casualty. From what we can tell analyzing the scene frame-by-frame, solider narrowly escaped both plasma blasts. Considering how powerful such were shown to be in a later flashback, if he would have been killed by one, he would have been blasted into small pieces, which is never evident in the film. What is pictured is the last frame we see of the situation and solider seems to be very much unharmed by the closest blast. |
||
2. | Punk Leader (Bill Paxton) | Despite his injuries cause him to go down (and judging by the impact include at least broken ribs plus severe bruises) Paxton's character hardly sustained enough damage for it to be a lethal case. In one of film's novelizations (co-written by William Wisher who co-wrote the movie as well) where the character is named "Kotex" he is suggested as a lethal casualty, with sheer impact of the blow killing him. It might be that the whole scene being fully reshot near the end of production (changing the setting to observatory from a schoolyard) eventually made the scene more vague as to whether he survived. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) | |
3. | Punk (Brad Rearden) | Although nothing in the movie suggests that this punk was killed or even that The Terminator had any reason to do so since he complied, in novelization T-800 seemingly kills Mark (as this punk is called there) with his compliance buying him only 14 seconds of time. Although it should be noted that novelization has too much difference from the movie to be canon, including setting this very scene at a different location (schoolyard). |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) | |
4. | Unknown murder | There is a "Wanted for murder" poster in the police station which might be unrelated to events of the movie, however the face on the police sketch resembles Arnold Schwarzenegger, so it might mean one of the murders witnessed in the movie already. |
Either unknown suspect or The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) | |
5. | Policeman (William Wisher) | Although some people suggested that policeman might have been killed by blunt force trauma, it was hardly of needed impact to be lethal. Moreover, sticking his hand in front of the head instinctively might have helped policeman to sustain much less damage to the head. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) | |
6. | "Afghan" | Detective Vukovich mentions that "last week" Dr. Silberman was questioning a guy who set his "Afghan" on fire after "screwing" it. It is slightly unclear what Vukovich meant, as word Afghan in conjunction with "his" may refer to either a type of blanket or a dog of Afghan Hound breed. It is most likely the latter as he was arrested, but it's not clear whether it was lethal if it was the case. | Unknown suspect | |
7. | Police Officer | At one point in police station as Terminator shoots two sessions from AR-15 a scream is briefly heard after second one, implying that someone was shot. It is never shown explicitly what happened and in most versions, scream heard at the moment is by the same voice that was heard when one of the previous policemen was shot, so situation is slightly unclear. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) | |
8. | Police Officer | Although counted as a kill in some cases, such as Carnage Counts, upon closer inspection it seems that officer was likely just ducking to avoid the shards of glass or due to being wounded by some of them. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) | |
9. | Police Officer | Although yet again accounted by Carnage Counts, policeman seems to be fleeing from the shots, not receiving ones. Something, however, sparkles on his uniform at one point, which might be a reflection of some sort or indeed a shot. |
The Terminator T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) | |
10. | Rat | Considering T-800 infiltrator entered the bunker shortly afterwards and started to massacre people, it is highly unlikely that rat was ever cooked as intended when it was caught. However certain probability that it was at least killed is there since rat stopped squeaking shortly after it was shown. |
||
11. | Taxidermied fish | Apart from taxidermied bird there is also what seems to be a fish hanging at Sarah's mother cabin, but details are rather unclear due to how the scene was lit and there is also possibiliy that it is a decorative fish which is just a plaster sculpture. |
||
12. | Tanker Driver (Wayne Stone) | While the case was accounted in several bodycounts, including All Outta Bubble Gum account the driver as a kill, he is shown to be moving long after Terminator knocks him down. Some people theorized he was run over by his own tanker shortly after, but that makes little sense considering positioning of the body. |

Bonus Counts[]
Main Antagonist Screen Time[]
- DarkSpino306's Screen-Time (Parts 1, 2 and 3): 23 minutes 6 seconds
- Our research: 26 minutes 8 seconds
Time | Shots | Actor/Double | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
15 seconds | 2 |
Arnold Schwarzenegger (credit) | |
16 minutes 9 seconds | Approximately 285 |
Arnold Schwarzenegger | Approximation as some shots might be that of doubles (especially close-ups). Behind-the-scenes photography confirm that Schwarzenegger is indeed in many close-ups, though. |
1 minute 51 seconds | Approximately 68 |
Peter Kent (stunt double) | Shots were compiled mostly based on information from two interviews with Kent (this and this) |
8 seconds | Approximately 10 |
Frank Orsatti (stunt double) | Shots were compiled based on behind-the-scenes featurette which clearly shows Orsatti working as a double for at least two days. He might have doubled Schwarzenegger in a few more shots, but that is up to debate. |
8 seconds | 3 |
Anthony Cecere (stunt double) | While not confirmed, stunts like this are Cecere's most known specialty so it is very likely him. Some websites attributed shots of Frank Orsatti briefly burning to him as well, but that could be easily debunked with behind-the-scenes footage. |
24 seconds | Approximately 18 |
Gene Hartline (stunt double) | Confirmed via interview with Peter Kent here. Some shots might be with other doubles and/or model, though. Hartline broke his foot when he crashed the bike. |
1 minute 35 seconds | Approximately 55 |
Unidentified Stunts | In some shots Terminator might be a full-scale model. |
41 seconds | Approximately 26 |
Special effects make-up and models | Assortment of shots were achieved with full-scale mannequins and models, special make-up with no actor (shots where Schwarzenegger is at least portraying hands are featured in his counter) etc. |
3 minutes 40 seconds | 115 |
Endoskeleton models | Several full-sized models were used, including a main one made of aluminim and a light one made of polyuretane for explosion (in order not to harm the crew with shards). Also accounted are shots of assorted pieces of T-800 seen after the explosion as well as one piece which was stuck in Sarah's leg. |
28 seconds | 8 |
Endoskeleton stop-motion animation. | There are exactly eight shots of stop-motion animation used, some of them composited or matted with those of actors. |
10 seconds | 10 |
Miniatures | Miniature of exploding truck actually included T-800 as evident by red light which is supposed to be exposed endoskeleton lens. |
9 seconds | 5 |
HUD | Shots in which only Terminator's HUD is seen with no actors involved. |
13 seconds | 13 |
Shots with car lights seen, lighting something or being reflected in mirrors and surfaces. | |
16 Seconds | 3 |
Shots in which only Terminator's voice is heard. | Including the shot in which Schwarzenegger actually appears towards the end of the shot, but is mostly absent and the voice is dubbed by an unknown actress as Sarah's mother. |
